☀️ Summer Safety Tips for Kids in Chestnut Hill 🌳🚴♀️
Summer is one of the best times of the year for children to explore, play, and enjoy everything our beautiful Chestnut Hill community has to offer. Whether they’re biking through the neighborhood, playing at local parks, or enjoying family outings, a few simple precautions can help keep summer fun and safe.
✅ Stay Hydrated – Children can become dehydrated quickly during hot weather. Encourage water breaks before they feel thirsty.
✅ Protect Their Skin – Apply sunscreen before heading outdoors and reapply throughout the day, especially after sweating or swimming.
✅ Wear Helmets – Bikes, scooters, skateboards, and rollerblades should always come with a properly fitted helmet.
✅ Watch for Traffic – With more kids outside during summer, drivers and pedestrians alike should remain alert. Remind children to use crosswalks and look both ways before crossing.
✅ Prevent Heat Illness – Schedule outdoor activities during cooler morning or evening hours when possible. If a child appears dizzy, unusually tired, or complains of a headache, get them into the shade and hydrated immediately.
✅ Be Tick Aware – After playing in grassy or wooded areas, do a quick tick check and remove any ticks promptly.
✅ Avoid Bare Feet – Hot pavement, sharp objects, and insect stings can quickly turn a fun day into an urgent care visit.
Most importantly, encourage kids to unplug, get outside, stay active, and enjoy the simple pleasures of summer. The memories they make now often become the stories they tell for a lifetime.
Have a safe, healthy, and happy summer, Chestnut Hill! 🌞
